Onion Dip Recipe

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is having a great Thursday! Its chilly, windy, and terrible here on the North Georgia mountains. If you're experiencing the same kind of terrible weather where you are, I have the perfect recipe to share with you today.

Seriously, the best dip ever

My mom and I have been making this onion dip for years, and it is always delicious. I always gain about a million pounds after stuffing myself, but it is SO worth the calories. This onion dip recipe was even featured at my wedding almost three years ago. The husband and I even carried the leftovers on our honeymoon, and ate every single bit of it. I hope that you guys enjoy this onion dip recipe as much as my family and I have over the years.

Onion Dip Recipe Ingredients

2 tablespoons of butter
3 large onions (I like to use Vidalia but sweet onions are fine too)
2 cups of mayonnaise
1 ½ cups of swiss cheese
½ cup of Parmesan
¼ cup dry white wine (I used chardonnay)
1 clove of garlic
½ teaspoon hot sauce
1 loaf of multi grain bread to dip

Onion Dip Recipe Directions

Pre-heat your oven to 375.
Saute your onions in a large skillet by melting the butter over medium high heat for 10 minutes or until the onions are tender.
Mix the swiss cheese, parmesan, mayonnaise, garlic, wine, and hot sauce together. Gradually stir in the onion. Make sure that the mixture is consistent.
Cook for 25 minutes, until the cheese bubbles.
Let the dip stand for 10 minutes.

  1. Onion dip is my favorite and I've never considered making it from scratch before. This certainly beats sour cream and packaged onion mix! Pinning to try!

    1. Rachel, thank you so much for sharing! This is by far my favorite thing to make. Its delicious and I'm a little ashamed to say that I can eat every last bit of it by myself in just a few days tops. :) I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!
