How to Unclog a Drain Naturally

A few weeks ago I had a terrible problem with the plumbing in my kitchen. I noticed that my sink wasn't draining as fast as it should. Then, I was hit with the shock of having water pour out onto my floor and underneath my cabinets when I attempted to run my dishwasher.

I knew that something was amiss. I had my husband inspect the pipes. He concluded that the stoppage was down farther. Maybe even under the house which is a fear of mine because I don't want to pay a professional to come out and fix the blockage. I'm a more do it yourself kind of girl.

I talked to my father-in-law and he gave me this super simple and inexpensive solution to fixing my blockage problem in just a few minutes.

What You'll Need:

1 cup Vinegar
1 cup baking soda
Lots of boiling water
1 stopped up sink

Directions:

  1. Make sure that your sink and water lines have no excess water by placing a bucket underneath the pipes and taking the pipes apart.
  2. If you have water in the pipes that is after the pipes you will need to wait a few hours or so and let all of the water drain (slowly).
  3. Put the baking soda down the drain first.
  4. Then, pour the vinegar down.
  5. Now, pour all of your boiling water down the sink.
  6. You may have to do this a few times, but in my experience it works like a charm!

Kitchen Work Triangle

Image C/O MorgueFile
Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is enjoying this winter weather. Here in Georgia, the weather is cold, snow falls, but unfortunately none of it sticks to the ground. I was so hoping that we could have a little bit of snow to play in for a day or two, but I guess that its not for this year.

The Kitchen Is An Important Room for Any House

As I've said before, the kitchen is the heart and soul of any house. Its the one room where a family can gather to prepare a meal together, laugh, and spend quality time together. For most families, a lot of great memories are made in the kitchen over a nice hot stew or piece of chocolate. In my mom's house I made a lot of amazing memories with my parents over a steaming cup of coffee and a homemade cupcake. In some houses, many children do their homework in the kitchen, and the adults even pay the bills in the kitchen.

What Will a Kitchen Work Triangle Do?

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in a house; so, that is why we must keep it organized and decluttered. Incorporating the use of a Kitchen Work Triangle can help you maintain not only an organized kitchen but also help you keep your sanity.

What is a Kitchen Work Triangle?

A kitchen work triangle basically ensures that you have enough space to prepare food, cook, and clean up afterwards without running over anyone else that happens to be in the kitchen with you. It is an imaginary triangle. Every point of the triangle has a location. One point is for the fridge, one is for the stove, and the other is for the sink.

How do I Make a Kitchen Work Triangle Work for me?

You may be wondering, how to make a kitchen work triangle work for you and your kitchen. Some kitchens are setup with the work triangle in mind, but others are not. It is important to evaluate your kitchen's space before you make any changes. In most cases, you will not be able revamp your kitchen right away. If you are able to, changing the location of your fridge can make all of the difference in the world.

There are many ways to organize your kitchen work triangle. I have only scratched the surface of this amazing way to organize your kitchen. If you are looking for more information Houzz has an amazing article with tons more information called How to Setup A Kitchen Work Triangle.
